Practical example

Like most aspects of normal development, learning to walk needs to be followed in the correct order. Normal development is not a random process, instead it follows an orderly progression. Think of building a tower of blocks. The bottom blocks need to be securely in place before the higher blocks can be added.

Thus, attempts should be made to teach the following stages to a child learning to walk:

Floor time

Standing posture

Stepping with correct posture

Standing balance

Stepping with reduced support

Cruising

Free standing and balance
